Antología Julio Le Parc

Antología Julio Le Parc
Senses in movement

Rutini Wines created a tailor-made wine to the measure of the great Argentine artist Julio Le Parc. This is a 2012 Malbec from the Uco Valley, with 50% of the grapes drawn from Altamira and the other 50% from Gualtallary. Seasoned in French oak barrels for 18 months, this creation of the enologist Mariano Di Paola is presented in a package inspired by the work of art “Desplazamientos”/ “Displacements”.

Le Parc produced this work in 1967 and it was originally exhibited in the Instituto Di Tella. The artist later donated it to the inaugurating Centro Cultural General San Martín, in 1970. Time and directors went by, and “Desplazamientos” was displaced to the basement, where it was sometimes used as a shelf. In 2000 the work was rescued from the basement and restored under Le Parc’s supervision. In 2004 the work was reopened and the worn down parts that had to be discarded were distributed among the San Martin employees who had salvaged that unique piece.

“Desplazamientos” is a typical 60´s work. One of the most interesting examples of optical and kinetic art. When looking at the piece designed by Le Parc, the viewer perceives movement thanks to the curved and refractive surface. The sense of the oeuvre is activated by the observer’s displacement. It’s an interaction.

This wine is another form of interaction that expands the possibilities of the work of art. Le Parc’s son, Yamil, was a key element in Di Paola’s and Le Parc’s meeting. Both of them are from Palmira, a town in Mendoza.

Only 2,000 bottles of Rutini Antología Julio Le Parc Malbec 2012 were made. The bottle and package are a transmutation of Le Parc’s artistic strength that blends perfectly with the delicate wine Di Paola created for Rutini Wines.

Estudio Zemma-Ruiz Moreno and Yamil Le Parc were in charge of the packaging design, which won the Silver Pentaward 2017 in Barcelona.

In 2018 Rutini Wines joined ArteBA, the most important art fair in the country with more than 400 artists on display.
