Great scores for our malbecs

Our wines have achieved an outstanding performance in this contest, obtaining high scores within the different lines of the Rutini portfolio:

Single Vineyard Altamira Malbec 2019

97 points

Made entirely with Malbec grapes from our Altamira vineyard, 80% of this wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.  It has an aging potential of 15 years.

In Altamira, these vines produce low yields.  When the grapes are ripe, a great aromatic concentration is obtained, highlighting floral aromas on the nose with a predominance of violets and lavender, and a particular aniseed character.  These notes are combined with others of cocoa and toast provided by the wine’s aging in oak.  On the palate, it is firm with round tannins. It has a fresh and persistent finish.

Single Vineyard Gualtallary Malbec 2019

95 points

Made with 100% Malbec grapes from Gualtallary, 50% of this wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.  It has an aging potential of 15 years.

It is a lively purple wine, with dense garnet reflections. Very aromatic, it surprises us with its intense floral and fruity aromas, reminiscent of violets, cherries, plums, and blueberries.  It is broad on the palate, where it displays a unique expression of both the Malbec grape, as well as from the terroir where it was born.  The red fruits and berries, as well as the spices (pepper, vanilla), are enhanced by the wine’s aging in oak, which brings about accents of cocoa and tobacco. In the aftertaste, a fleeting astringency and bright acidity guarantee a long aging potential.

Rutini Dominio Malbec 2020

95 points

Made with 100% Malbec grapes from La Consulta, 20% of the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.  It has an aging potential of 10 years.

It is a limpid garnet red, portraying violet reflections. On the nose, fruity aromas such as plum, floral aromas such as violet, and a spicy touch of licorice stand out.  In the mouth, the typicity of the varietal is granted through flavors of black fruits.  It is a juicy and fresh wine, with balanced acidity.

Apartado Gran Malbec 2019

94 points

This is a blend of Malbecs from our different vineyards, made with 40% Malbec from Gualtallary, 40% Malbec from Altamira, and 20% Malbec from La Consulta.  It has been aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, and has 15 years of aging potential.

It is an intense red wine with dazzling violet reflections. On the nose, it is complex and elegant, with very diverse floral and fruit notes, along with subtle aniseed. On the palate, it is a highly concentrated wine, very long and complex.  It is fruit-forward and powerful; these aspects being complemented by some of the La Consulta terroir’s characteristics, such as licorice.  It has notes of cocoa and coffee, provided by the medium toasting of the barrel, which are very pleasant. It is a grand Malbec, with a lengthy, polished finish.
